The procedure involves a tiny needle stick, either at the wrist or the top of the leg, with no major incisions required. A small tube, or catheter, is guided through the blood vessels under live x-ray guidance (fluoroscopy) to the blood vessels supplying the hemorrhoids. Once the catheter is in the correct position, microscopic particles are delivered to block the blood flow to the hemorrhoids.
