Dr. Brian Bobby Chiong is a board-certified interventional and diagnostic radiologist at Astra Vein Treatment Center, where he treats vein, fibroid and hemorrhoid conditions with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. He also chairs the Department of Radiology at SBH Health System in the Bronx.
Dr. Chiong has worked as an attending interventional radiologist since 2014, when he joined SBH Health System in the Bronx as Section Chief of Interventional Radiology. He now chairs the hospital’s Department of Radiology, which he led through the 2020 COVID-19 surge.
His role extends beyond imaging: he serves on SBH’s Patient Safety and Cancer committees, and on its tumor boards he reviews complex thoracic, breast and GI cases alongside oncologists and surgeons. In 2023, SBH recognized his work with its Medical Staff Impact Award.
Teaching has run through his entire career. Dr. Chiong holds an appointment as Affiliate Associate Medical Professor at the CUNY School of Medicine and has given grand rounds and resident lectures on topics ranging from venous thromboembolic disease to CT imaging protocols.

Board-certified by the ABR since 2013, first in Diagnostic Radiology and later with a subspecialty certificate in Vascular and Interventional Radiology (2015), before receiving the combined IR/DR certification.

Dr. Chiong’s approach begins with an accurate diagnosis. Trained in both diagnostic and interventional radiology, he relies on imaging to pinpoint the source of a patient’s symptoms before recommending treatment, and he favors the least invasive option that can address it.
Before each procedure, he walks patients through what it involves and what recovery will look like, and he makes time for their questions.
Patient safety has shaped his career, from coaching the TeamSTEPPS team communication and safety program as a resident to serving on SBH Health System’s Patient Safety Committee for more than a decade.
Dr. Chiong has authored textbook chapters and co-authored peer-reviewed research in interventional and diagnostic radiology, including work indexed by PubMed, the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
